Weirdest thing: the music paper was bought online awhile back from someone in winnipeg...little did I know at the time, it was my new friend across the table from me that sold it to me!! We didn't figure that out til a week later! too funny :)

This page was downright fun. Right from painting the orange border and stamping white snowflakes over the orange paint, to freehand cutting goofy circles to layer on top of each other, to distressing edges, to my favourite quick date stamp, to those glossy black sticker alphas, to writing directly on my photo with a permanent marker....and on wavy lines at that! Even the colours are fun!

These are one of the best school days ever! Easy on the parents and kids in the morning, one less thing to do before walking out the door, and super comfortable and fun for the kids all day long. The boys loved it!

mmmmm, fluffy clouds.....I hand cut these clouds, usually they don't work out the way I want them to, but I really like these ones....with a little bit of dry brush paint around the edges.

These 2 have declared they are BFFs. Best Friends Forever. ...or as Ella says, "BFFs forever, right Nash?"

I overheard them arguing the other day and then one of them said, "WAIT! Remember? BFFs!!". And then they started getting along again :) I'll have to remember to pull that one out myself sometime!

This year, Mason is off to Grade 5. Time sure flew by this year, but we're excited for what lies ahead of us with all 3 kids now attending the same school!

Wow. That was the fastest summer. Ever. Even my summers as a kid were longer than that! Why does it go by even faster when I'm a parent?

We had a big change this summer, we bought our first camper. So that made us look forward to the weekends even more! Maybe that's why the season flew by way too quickly.

I am so happy to have another week with the kids before they have to go back to school. Sounds like lots of others have already headed back. Good ol' Manitoba! Still got a few days to pack the backpacks, get haircuts, buy a few more clothes, and stock up on lunch and snack items.

My youngest heads off to Kindergarten this year. I'm gonna miss her lots, but at the same time, I'm looking forward to getting caught up on bookwork that I've let slide for way to long. Routine. How I can crave it and fear it all at the same time?

"confidence" was a lot of fun, all those patterned squares are actually my own doodling!

"Fright Night" was a lift from Kelly Purkey, I remember that much! Her page was red white and blue, I'll have to look up the title. I love Kelly's style, I'm taking her online class right now filled with different ideas on how to use sketches.

Back from Holidays

Wish I had been somewhere other than here, but alas, it was only a holiday from my blog. Sorry about that, I'm sure a lot of things have happened since I last posted, not sure who's still out there anymore, but I'll post some scrapbook pages for now, and hopefully another night I'll update you on our family goings-on...

My Karate Kid

After 3 lessons, Mason went to his first Karate Tournament. And he won his division!!!

I'm such a proud Mom :)

Turns out the tournament was actually a Provincial Championship! So he's technically a Provincial Champion! :) Too cute!

His top competitor made too much physical contact and hit Mason in the mouth a couple times and kicked him in the sternum once. We were so proud of how Mason regained his composure and carried on to win it all!

The first picture is of Mason with the head judge for his division. He is a Black Belt that is on Canada's National Team and just returned from a competition in Italy.

And the second picture is of Mason receiving his 1st place certificate.

Mason is looking forward to his next tournament! :)

We got a little spookier this year at halloween!

Except for Nash, he was happy being Spock from Star Trek. He got a lot of comments about his big ears! :)

Me....well, I was just so grotesque looking, I actually repulsed Sheldon and had him running out of the house the first chance he got with my all-too-real-witch's-laugh! LOL!

Adorable Ella didn't last tooooo long, but she got enough treats to last her quite awhile anyway. Mason had his first halloween on his own with a friend instead of coming around with his parents. Nash was sad at first that he couldn't go with Mason and Mason's friend, but he got over it and had fun hitting "every house in town....except 2" with his proud father.

Pumpkin Carving

A week before halloween we had our Pumpkin Carving Extravaganza. Lots of "smelly" pumpkin guts were scooped and the kids had a great time creating their own unique jack o'lanterns :)

We even found a pumpkin starting to grow within another pumpkin! I don't remember ever seeing that before!!

After a one year hiatus, we made it back to the pumpkin patch near Oak Lake. And what a perfect day! we started off with our sweaters on, but that afternoon, we all had them off with temperatures around 20C! Yes, these photos were taken AFTER the snow pictures already posted! The pumpkin patch has added lots of new things since we were there last, like a zip line, giant slingshots using mini pumpkins for firing at targets, a bigger store and concession,...we had a fantastic time and left with some great pumpkins to carve!

The boys carrying/pulling their bags and going to register for summer camp!!! It was their first long one of 4 nights/5 days.....Mommy had a little bit of a guilty feeling driving away and leaving Mason there...i'm still dealing with it....can't wait to see him after this weekend!

The morning of Mason's birthday, I made up a treasure hunt for them that had them running upstairs, downstairs, and outside, looking for more clues that eventually led Mason to his birthday present...

Nash had fun with TBall this year. He didn't play last year. The attention span and patience just wasn't there. Much more patient this year! The odd time after a practice was done I had to tell him to go run the bases a couple times and he would feel better. He'd hate it when he had to run slow because he would catch up to the kids in front of him. His middle name should have been Forrest. He sure loves running.

Mason's Baseball

Mason had a great year with his Rookie baseball team! He was one of the older more experienced players this year (his 3rd year) and hit a lot of home runs this year! His confidence level is definitely up! One game after he had already hit one home run, he went up for his next at bat and as he approached the plate, he started tossing the bat back and forth between his 2 hands. I thought, "Oh no, Mason, too cocky!", but he came through with another home run! What a guy :) Mason was lucky to also be able to play up with the Mosquito team on occasion. He's looking forward to being on that team next year. He did well transitioning from pitching machine to real pitching! I'm glad he's enjoying it.

It was so cool to buy Nash a game I used to play on our old Nintendo! Now he can play it on his DS. I got to try it out a bit one day and he was amazed how good I was! That felt good. Considering I suck at all the other video games he plays :)....Can't wait to try it again!

We're Back!!!

Sorry for the long hiatus, just a few computer issues, but now we're back in business!

The first photo is of Turbo getting his first bath. He didn't really need one when he was a little pup in the fall and he didn't get too dirty in the winter. But once spring hit, he was getting a little dusty and grimy. We had to wait til it was warm enough outside, 'cause there's no way we wanted him going up or down those steep 16 steps to our upstairs bathtub! And wouldn't you know, we had to wait a long time for a warm spring day in Manitoba! But both Turbo and Tundra did a lot better than I expected and it was a fun family adventure :)
Tundra and Turbo are good at sitting for a treat (that's about the only trick they do). Ella got to give Tundra a treat for being a good girl and finishing her bath.
I took this last photo from out my kitchen window. I thought it was so cute how they both sat there motionless under the maple tree watching the sun come up!

Dog Days of Spring

Turbo and Tundra are LOVING the spring weather we've been having!!! They are actually choosing to stay outside instead of coming in! Which is a good thing since they have to stay outside while we are painting this week. Hopefully the rain stays away for their sake.

The pups were 10 months old on the 4th! Somedays we forget they are still just pups, they seem full grown.
Again, Turbo loves the camera. He stares right at it, staying motionless. What a sweet sweet beautiful dog!
Had trouble getting Tundra to stay still and actually look at the camera. She doesn't quite get it.

Ella's First Dance Recital

Ella's first year of dance is now complete. Whether she will be interested in a second year is still up for negotiation. The dance recital was absolutely amazing. I was blown away by the talent and the routines. Loved the music they chose! Daddy and the boys even enjoyed it with the superhero and james bond themed routines :)

Here's Ella helping Amma get some makeup on in exchange for Amma putting some on Ella too. We were so thankful to Amma and Auntie Karyn making it up for Ella's big day!

I loved these brown letters so much I forgot to count out my letters before starting and didn't realize I wouldn't have enough "s" 's. Now I'll just HAVE to go shopping online to find some more!!! (should be "Big Glasses")

In preparation for the convention/retreat, I stitched 3 or 4 pieces of cardstock the night before at home. That made throwing together this layout very fast and easy! I bought the title and journalling block that day, the ladybug rubon, and I LOOOOOVVVEEDD the sassafras border stamp used beside the top right photo!!!!

We were so lucky to have so many great stores set up at the convention! I was able to buy the diamond pattern paper, the jenni bowlin journalling sport and brown letters, the driving sticker, and the blue ticket was left over from a 50/50 draw :)

I had an awesome time at the Scrapbooker's Convention this past weekend! I was much more productive than last year. I got 14 layouts done! I was still in such a groove, that I've got another 2 done since then even! So, let's get started...

I love this recording of something Nash used to say all the time, but doesn't anymore. Whenever he used to use the word "True", he always said it with wide eyes, sincerity, and definite emphasis to make sure you believed him :)

...on a very dreary, wet day! Great day for staying inside and scrapbooking, not so great for taking pictures of them :)

I FINALLY finished my week 3 assignment for interactive sewing on a layout. The flaps are so easy to do, I'd love to try some bigger ones sometime!

Racing Champions!

Our town cleaned up again at the regional Kub Kar, Beaver Buggy, and Scout Semi Races! We were winners in all 3 events and also had several other kids place in the top 3 of their events!

Daddy was very proud of his boys Mason and Nash who were declared 2009 Champions of the Kub Kar and the Beaver Buggy :)

She is a Dancing Queen :)

Ella performed at the festival this week with her dance class led by "Miss Kelsey". They, of course, were ADORABLE!!!!! They danced to a marching band song. They did great and I can't wait to see them at their recital after they've had another month of practice :)

This was fun! I was in the mood for red cardstock :)
So happy to have a chance to use those shiny red letter stickers and the owl!
It was also fun making the cloud that the title is on. Just some glossy packaging material from something else I bought, cut freehand, and then I punched a bunch of holes around the edge (the "funnest" part!) Fun using a quote from a favourite movie for the title, too!

Sheldon was pretty witty today, he came up with a name for Ella when she is in a bad mood. "CruElla" (from 101 dalmations). Nasty.

My Big Boy

It was a growing up day for Nash today, he lost his first tooth! How exciting! He was just watching tv and pushed it with his tongue and it popped right out!

Another sign he is growing up: his spring jacket that was just above his knees last year is now at the top of his thighs. He looks so much bigger!

This is my favourite sewing project yet! I sewed along the swirls on the side, in the corners, around the picture, along the word strips, and under the journalling. Even threw in some painting, chipboard, and bling!

The title is the kicker. You'll never guess where I got it from! Well, if you live in Canada and watch curling, you might figure it out...."Not as much held as embraced" is on the Tim Horton's coffee advertisement by the scoreboards of the Tim Horton's Brier going on right now! When I saw that, I thought it was perfect for a scrapbook layout!

Road Trip 2006

I don't usually do 2 page layouts anymore, but I really wanted to record this special day and didn't feel I could leave out any of these pictures, leading also to reverting back to cutting around pictures, also something I don't do very often. This was one of our last visits with my Afi in his home. He passed away in February 2007. I tried to get as much sewing on there as i could too, practicing for my online scrapbook sewing class.
